Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched the 2024 Senior High School (SHS) selection process for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates. This exercise, which began on August 28, 2024, will continue until September 4, 2024.
This year, over 570,000 candidates who took the BECE will participate in the selection process. These students can choose from a variety of Senior High Schools, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, and specialized programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Key Highlights of the Selection Process
Selection Options: Candidates can select up to eleven schools, divided into two sets. The first set includes six schools, while the second set, known as Cluster schools, includes five.
- School Categories: Schools are grouped into four main categories. Candidates can select one school from Category A, two from Category B, and up to five from Category C. The sixth choice must be a compulsory day school or a special boarding school.
- Specialized Programs: Candidates interested in technical, vocational, or STEM programs can select all their choices from the respective categories.
Confirmation of Choices: For the first time, candidates can confirm their school choices via a short code, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the selection process.
