When a fire gutted several shops at the Kasoa New Market on Sunday, it destroyed property worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The incident occurred just 24 hours after another building collapse disaster that left three people dead and dozens injured.
Because Sunday was not a typical day for the Kasoa New Market to trade, neither traders nor night security personnel were present when the fire started.
Faculty from the Ghana Public Fire Administration conveyed four fire tenders to the scene following a pain call, yet admittance to the market was obstructed.
After three hours, the fire was contained by the firefighters. Destroyed were items worth thousands of cedis.
The traders said that the firefighters were late getting to the disaster, but Kofi Forson, Acting Chief Fire Officer, won't listen to them.
He stated that four fire tenders were sent to contain the fire and that they promptly responded.
